Get to know the Mari Silicon X Chip that will be present in the Oppo Reno8 line

Handphone

The Oppo Reno8 line is certain to be ready to launch for the Indonesian market.  This smartphone is known to have received Postel Certification from the Ministry of Communication and Information and TKDN from the Ministry of Industry.

Following this news, Oppo Indonesia also held an Oppo Reno Portrait Workshop event.  In the event, Oppo revealed one of the key specifications that will be present in the Oppo Reno8 series.

The key specification in question is that the Oppo Reno8 line will be armed with its own NPU chip, namely MariSilicon X.

According to PR Manager Oppo Indonesia, Aryo Meidianto A, the presence of MariSilicon X is a form of Oppo's commitment to bringing the latest technology to more people.

For information, MariSilicon X is a chip developed independently by Oppo.  This chip was first present on the Oppo Find X5 Pro line and previously finally visited the Oppo Reno series.

"Oppo Reno8 armed with MariSilicon X will be the first in the Reno series," said Aryo at the event, Tuesday (26/7/2022) afternoon.

Furthermore, Aryo said, this chip is present at the same time as answering the current NPU problems.

The problem that Aryo is referring to is not a technical issue, but a consumer perspective.  So currently, according to Aryo, consumers often feel that there are differences in the results of photos from devices that use different chipsets.

For example, photos from smartphones that use chipset A are considered to have the advantage of being more accurate in color.  Meanwhile, photos from smartphones with chipset B are considered superior in terms of HDR.

"To eliminate this perspective, it is mediated with the NPU that we built ourselves, namely MariSilicon X. This NPU can also work well on Snapdragon and MediaTek, the two chipsets used in Oppo devices until now," he explained.

MariSilicon X's Other Abilities

To support its capabilities, Oppo provides MariSilicon X with dedicated DDR bandwidth.  Armed with this special DDR, MariSilicon X is able to make imaging processing faster.

In addition, MariSilicon X is able to deliver the best photo quality supported by Ultra HDR with a contrast ratio of 1,000,000: 1 or four times the dynamic range produced by the Oppo Find X3 Pro.

This chip is also reinforced with an improved RGBW mode that delivers 1.7 times clearer textures and 2 times faster raw file processing speed.

Then with the latest RAW algorithm, MariSilicon X can reduce noise through artificial intelligence in each RGB color channel.

However, it is unclear whether all Oppo Reno8 Series variants will use the MariSilicon X chip. From reports, it is possible that this chip will be used in the highest variant of the Reno8.
